The underlying concerns in this piece were realized as a response to surveillance. It also tries to address the nuanced mode of communication found in relationships with an imbalanced power dynamic within social institutions.

A preliminary version of the text-piece was site-specific. The text, written in LEDs, was installed at my college outside the Head of Department’s office, under a CCTV camera. It allowed me to explore the celebratory nature of certain phrases - which otherwise hold serious connotations - especially by shifting it from a verbal to visual domain.
