Circuit City Ensemble is an orchestra of inanimate objects, with each performer accustomed to playing a certain style of music under the leadership of the conductor - the Signal. However, when a different genre of music is introduced to the band by a member, its harmony is disrupted. Being aware of something different sparks unmatched opinions and the band finds itself unable to function well. 

The orchestral performance acts as an analogy for the way new information often challenges existing power structures. In this case, the Signal struggles to maintain its hold over the rest of the members.
